Newsagents who usually pay their News Corp newspaper accounts by credit card will now have to pay a 1.1 per cent fee for Visa and MasterCard and 2.5 per cent for Amex and Diners from 1 July.
Fairfax Media is implementing a 1.5% credit card surcharge across all payment facilities and all of its businesses. A surcharge commencement date has not yet been confirmed for credit card payments and newsagents will be notified at least one month prior to the surcharge coming into effect. The notification will include reminders that there are several surcharge-free payment options available to them, as per the instructions on their Fairfax account statements.
Fairfax Media said the surcharge rate was determined in accordance with the Reserve Bank’s Credit Card Surcharge Guidelines.
I mention this because newsagents often miss important communications. So much to read these days!
