ISPT’s chief executive officer Daryl Browning said at last week’s Property Congress that 93 per cent of retail sales still take place at physical retail outlets. He said that that retailers were reinventing and suggested that shopping centres must be part of the ecosystem of a family’s life – it’s the town centre of old days.
Whilst many newsagencies are in shopping centres there are plenty in town centres and know only too well the value of community involvement. This is more easily achieved in town centres but the general enjoyment people get in ‘belonging’ is something that will see family newsagencies thrive into the future both on and offline.
It is an interesting perspective from the Property Council.
