Blind Date with a Book



While walking through Fremantle, WA, earlier this week, an unusual book display placed outside a used book store caught my eye:

book pic 1It’s quite an interesting concept—Elizabeth’s Secondhand Bookstores select several titles,wrap them in brown paper, and allude to the title and content of the book via a few clues printed on the brown paper, thereby daring their customers to go on a ‘Blind Date with a Book’.

This concept has become so popular that they have set up an online store, which ships internationally:

Perhaps an idea newsagents can borrow, especially around Christmas time—this would be a very innovative way to style Christmas hampers and gifts packs for the adventurous customer.
